Real Madrid should not feel threatened by Bayern’s interest in Haaland alternative
Not so long ago, Real Madrid were linked with Napoli’s in-form striker, Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian international has enjoyed a bright start to life in Naples, scoring eight goals in nine games for his new club. Napoli are currently top the Serie A table as they remain undefeated after eight games, courtesy of Osimhen’s consistent performances in the league.
Los Blancos are one of the few clubs in Europe that have shown an early keen interest in the 22-year-old. Real are interested in Osimhen but only as an alternative to Kylian Mbappe who is yet to decide his future with his contract set to expire next summer.
While Real Madrid are ostensibly interested in Osimhen, Bayern Munich are also in the race for the lethal striker. According to AS, Julian Naglesmann’s side is willing to offer more than 100 million euros for Victor Osimhen.
Real Madrid should not be as interested in Osimhen as Bayern Munich are
Bayern could be looking into Osimhen as Robert Lewandowski’s heir as the Polish striker’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season. He’s also been linked with a move to Real Madrid as it has been in the past on several occasions.
Bayern Munich are not favourites in the race to sign Haaland next year, which is why they have probably shown a great deal of interest in the 22-year-old, Victor Osimhen.
In my opinion, Bayern Munich’s interest in Victor Osimhen is not that big of a deal for Real Madrid as the media has portrayed it to be. While Osimhen is a great striker, Los Blancos’ priority is Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland for next summer.
Bayern’s interest in Osimhen is a nonchalant threat to Real Madrid. In fact, it would be a huge gamble to enter into a bidding war with Bayern for a striker who has only enjoyed two great seasons in his career. We certainly wouldn’t want another Luka Jovic case at the Santiago Bernabeu.
AS also reports that Chelsea, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain have also shown interest in signing the 22-year-old. Real Madrid’s interest at the moment lies elsewhere with Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland being the priority signings for next summer.
