Real Madrid Transfers: 3 long-term replacements for Carlos Casemiro
1. AS Monaco CDM Aurelien Tchouameni
Riding on the top of this list is a player who has been one of the newer entrants to Real Madrid’s transfer Radar. Monaco has been a special club, their youth product Kylian Mbappe has been the most important player on Real’s radar for a couple of seasons now. Tchouameni, however, is a Bordeaux Graduate who now plays for Monaco and is brilliant in what he does on the pitch.
This season, he has been one of the most consistent performers for Monaco on both domestic and European stages. He is a true defensive midfielder with numbers in tackles and interceptions both edging well over two in all competitions, per WhoScored. With a towering presence of 185 cm, he is also handy in the air and unlike the two previous players, Tchouameni is someone who’d weigh both tackles and interceptions equally.
Although his offensive play has not yet reached Tonali’s standards, he does a great job at winning free kicks with regularity. He is handy when it comes to placing accurate passes to aid play. Especially, his long balls are of superb accuracy. He averages 2.9 long balls in the Ligue 1 and 3.7 in the Europa League.
His links with Real Madrid are looking really strong as the reports suggest. And the possibility of the transfer actually happening is highest among all the players on this list which is why he deserves to ride atop here. At a 35 million euro Transfermarkt valuation and with two more years remaining on his contract after this season, he wouldn’t be the cheapest of investments with all signs pointing to a fee higher than Eduardo Camavinga. But, he indeed is a solid central defensive midfielder with a skill set that can help Real Madrid. I certainly see him as a long-term replacement for Casemiro.
