ALEXANDER ISAK – REAL SOCIEDAD

Alexander Isak is inarguably one of the most exciting and talented youngsters in La Liga. The Swede has it all: he’s fast, skillful, and has an eye for goal. An exciting 22-year-old centre-forward with tremendous potential.

If you didn’t know, Real Madrid were once seriously interested in signing Isak in 2017 but eventually the Swede picked Borussia Dortmund over Los Blancos and signed for the Black and Yellows in the winter transfer market.

Isak failed to break through at Dortmund and then signed for Real Sociedad in the 2019/20 summer window. In his debut season, the Swede caught everyone’s attention with his skill and finesse in front of goal.

His best performance, unfortunately, came against Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid in the quarter-final of the Copa del Rey. Isak was unstoppable against Madrid and his pace was a serious headache for the backline. The former Bundesliga ace scored two goals and provided an assist which saw Real Madrid being eliminated in the quarter-final.

He finished his debut season with 16 goals and three assists in all competitions for Real Sociedad. In the Copa del Rey, he was the best player scoring seven goals and two assists in eight games that sealed his first collective trophy in his career. Real Sociedad were crowned Copa del Rey champions and Isak played a pivotal role in their run.

While many pundits assumed that Alexander Isak could be just a one-season wonder, the Swede hit back last season to silence his critics with 17 goals in La Liga and two assists. He was electric last season and has shown some serious potential to become one of the very best forward’s in the game.

In my opinion, Isak would be a fantastic signing and add an addition to Florentino Perez’s project of signing young players to build a team for the future. Isak can lead the frontline when Karim Benzema has to step down at some point  ( that is if Erling Haaland does not sign for Real Madrid) and even if there’s another striker on the roster, Isak can play anywhere across the front three due to his skillset.

However, the only issue is that Isak is bound to a long-term contract with Real Sociedad until 2026 and it is highly unlikely that Sociedad would be wanting to part ways so early with their gifted striker, Alexander Isak.
