Real Madrid take on Rayo Vallecano ahead of the international break as they aim to go into that break with a win against a team that have been exceeding expectations so far during this season. Carlo Ancelotti knows that no chances can be taken and he will almost surely name his best possible starting eleven similarly to the team we saw against Shakhtar Donetsk in the UEFA Champions League.

Goalkeeper

In goal, we have seen Thibaut Courtois keep Real Madrid in the game time and time again. The Belgian will definitely be starting once again and no one else can expect otherwise as Andriy Lunin waits to make his season debut.

Defenders

On the right, Dani Carvajal will start as he received news that he’s the only Real Madrid player called up to Luis Enrique’s Spain squad during the international break coming up next week. It may be risky to give Carvajal extra matches and Ancelotti could think of resting him in this game but defending has been an issue this season and simply put, Carvajal improves the defense massively.

In the center, we continue to see the partnership of Eder Miliato and David Alaba. Both players will need to show an improvement to the performance that they came out with against Shakhtar last week while Ferland Mendy is another player who didn’t do too well and will be expected to come out with an improved performance on Saturday night.

Midfielders

It’s difficult to see Carlo Ancelotti make amends to his trio even though he has players such as Eduardo Camavinga or even Isco and Marco Asensio ready to make their mark as they continue to wait patiently for their opportunity. However, all signs point to another start for Carlos Casemiro who has not reached the heights we all have gotten used to seeing from him with the worst performance arguably being the last match.

He’s essential to the team, though, and consistency in the lineup will hopefully help him improve again. In front of him, his trusted partners in Luka Modric and Toni Kroos will take the pitch and do what they do best: dazzle us as they always do.

Forwards

A continuous argument continues to go around as to who will start on the right flank and the safe assumption would be that Ancelotti will go with Lucas Vazquez once again after he did quite well against Shakhtar Donetsk. On the left, I don’t think you can start a game without him at the moment as Vinicius Junior has been in brilliant form and recorded two assists in the last Champions League match which were scored by Karim Benzema, who will be the striker on the night. The Frenchman seemed to have a problem in the last match but should be more than ready to take the pitch on Saturday night.
