Real Madrid have made a strong start to the season in LaLiga and the Champions League having lost just two of their opening 15 matches so far.

Carlo Ancelotti’s charges lead both, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona, in the Spanish top division whilst also topping their Champions League group ahead of Serie A champions Inter Milan. The Italian manager has brought back an attractive brand of football back to the Santiago Bernabeu and that is seen by the number of goals that Los Blancos have notched so far this season.

Nevertheless, there remain gaping holes in a few areas in the squad and it would not be an unwise option to try and fill those during January to ensure that the fight for La Liga and Champions League continues, in addition to the Copa del Rey- a competition which Madrid have failed to win since 2014 under Ancelotti during his first tenure in Spain’s capital.

Which three positions should the club consider rebuilding during the summer?

RIGHT WING

Gareth Bale has not featured for Real Madrid since August this year owing to an injury. He is slated to return to action following the international break but in similar news, Carlo Ancelotti has now lost Rodrygo Goes to an injury for a few weeks. The right winger’s slot at Real Madrid is one worth rebuilding, especially with a goal-scorer considering that Rodrygo has an erratic record.

Kylian Mbappe, whose arrival next summer seems to be a matter of imminence, will be deployed as the right winger next season when Bale’s contract will also expire. The Welshman is set to leave the club unless there is a major turn of events. While Madrid require a right winger, signing one is going to be a difficult proposition for more than one reason.

Firstly, the player will only be a temporary solution because Mbappe will arrive sooner rather than later. Secondly, the club will then have to find a solution for Rodrygo or Bale for the second half of the season because there will be three right wingers in the event of a signing, and finally, there are not many good right wingers available in the market at the moment for a reasonable price.
