LB Miguel Gutierrez

Now we must discuss another young player who has not been given many opportunities in recent weeks. Miguel Gutierrez hasn’t been on the pitch since September, as his last appearance was in the loss to Sheriff. Of course, Miguel holds no blame for that defeat, though he was subbed off after 66 minutes and admittedly did not have his best match as a whole.

Carlo Ancelotti should not hold one bad game against the 20-year-old, especially since he was quite good in the other three matches he played in. Those three were all wins in La Liga, with Real Madrid scoring a combined 11 goals against Celta Vigo and Mallorca. And in the first of those three matches, Miguel was perhaps the best player on the pitch in a 1-0 win over Real Betis.

The 20-year-old left back can become a world-class fullback one day. His passing skills and composure impressed Madridistas at the tail end of the 2020-2021 season. Hopefully, he can get more chances to build on the quality he has shown.

CM Eduardo Camavinga

Former Rennes prodigy Eduardo Camavinga hasn’t quite reached the heights of his breakout 2019-2020 season in the last 18 months, but he did have an incredible start to life at the Santiago Bernabeu. He quite literally made his debut at the venue, scoring in the second half. Camavinga was a huge reason why Real Madrid pulled away to a 5-2 win over a tricky Celta Vigo side.

And Camavinga was an even bigger hero in the Champions League at the San Siro. Once again, he came off the bench to contribute a goal, providing an intelligent assist for Rodrygo Goes in a vital 1-0 road win.

He even played a key role in a comeback win at the Mestalla, which has always been a hellacious trip for the Merengue side.

Camavinga has cooled off lately, but he is still getting chances. He did well in the match before the break against Rayo Vallecano, showing his composure in midfield with Luka Modric out. There are always going to be things for a 19-year-old midfielder to work on, but this has been a successful start for a player who is very much determined to excel at Real Madrid.
