Eden Hazard captained Belgium to the 2022 Qatar World Cup but that may do little to turn around his career at Real Madrid, which is at an all-time low.

Although fit at present, the former Chelsea forward has struggled to build momentum or offer any realistic competition to Vinicius Junior. Carlo Ancelotti has been keeping the player largely as a second fiddle to his Brazilian counterpart, and rightly so given the youngster’s blistering form in front of goal over the last two or three months of the 2021-22 season.

Hazard has been linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in the near future, but it is much easier said than done. Here are three reasons why selling the 31-year-old is a lot more difficult a prospect than many think.

HE IS DETERMINED TO PROVE HIMSELF

Eden Hazard is ready to fight for his place off the bench despite largely being confined to it this season. Carlo Ancelotti has shown this season that players will be picked on meritocracy and not by the basis of their transfer fees or names. That said, Hazard has a fair chance to regain a prominent role in the starting eleven, whether as a left winger or elsewhere in the attack.

His fitness issues now seem to be a thing of the past, very fortunately for all parties involved, and he is bound to get opportunities sooner or later. This time around, Hazard has looked better in every match he has played and even if his only contribution is an assist in the very first game of the season, the Belgian frontline star has looked menacing in the final third.

With four months of club action on the horizon until March now, along with the impending participation in the Copa del Rey, Ancelotti will give chances to Hazard. Plus, he has already stated that he does not want to leave the club as a failure and would like to repay the money they spent on him. His mentality is showing why he has been so successful and that will benefit him, surely.
