Real Madrid Transfers: Another top prospect who could be loaned

Real Madrid currently have a handful of talented up-and-coming players out loan, and the team has particularly high hopes for Takefusa Kubo and Brahim Diaz as future first-team players. They also have a number of players currently registered to the first team who aren’t getting opportunities but are good enough to start for top-flight clubs in Europe.

We are already seeing clubs line up with interest for backup goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, who is undoubtedly a wonderful talent. But it’s unrealistic for Real to loan out their only backup goalkeeper. It’s just too risky.

There is another backup who has rarely ever played, could become a future star, and might actually be feasibly loaned out. And that is Antonio Blanco.

Carlos Forjanes of AS called Blanco a “forgotten” man at Real Madrid, noting how Blanco’s place in the squad has indeed tumbled since the signing of Eduardo Camavinga.

The Camavinga signing was an important one both for the present and future of Los Blancos. He is, perhaps, the best midfield prospect in the world. And it did not take him long – his first match, in fact – to make a major impact.

An Antonio Blanco loan should be discussed

Yet Blanco is a great prospect in his own right. The 21-year-old has appeared in just one match this season in La Liga, registering 31 minutes. This comes after he was a standout at the end of the 2020-2021 season, getting important appearances, including an impressive start against Cadiz, amidst injury.

Real Madrid have Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Casemiro, Fede Valverde, and Camavinga as their top five midfielders. Isco can also play in a midfield three, so that makes six preferred options to Blanco. Then there is the possibility of Marco Asensio or even Eden Hazard in a 10 role with a double-pivot behind them.

Finally, Dani Ceballos remains on the squad. Though he is probably going to go to Real Betis this winter, he would be another player with experience whom Carlo Ancelotti would seemingly play ahead of Blanco.

All the while, Blanco is left to play at Castilla with no loan talk. Not even an inkling of a rumor or a link to the young Spanish midfielder has been mentioned to this point in the 2021-2022 season.

But if someone shows interest in Blanco and it is the right situation, I would not be surprised if Real Madrid send him out on loan. Out of all the prospects at Real, Blanco is the one most ready for a loan. He needs minutes at his age. Los Merengues must see that.

If the minutes cannot come here and if the depth is good enough that he is such an afterthought, I only see one convincing counterargument why a loan should not at least be explored. And that is depth. It is a risk, given the fatigue the starters will face, but, on the other hand, it is also a risk to have Blanco only play for Castilla.
