CM Luka Modric

After Thibaut Courtois, we have an even more experienced Real Madrid star who could pull the strings to another Royal White victory. Luka Modric has always enjoyed playing against Granada. Who can forget this screamer he scored against them in the early part of the title-winning 2019-2020 campaign?

Modric has refound his form with Toni Kroos back in the lineup. While Granada can congest the pitch in midfield and have the experienced Maxime Gonalons in their ranks, Modric can run circles around almost any midfield. Granada won’t be able to keep up with Modric’s clever flicks and dribbles, which should be on full display at Los Carmenes.

Fede Valverde may not be put back in the lineup just yet, so Modric is expected to start. On paper, this looks like a great matchup for him, and I would not put it past the legendary Croatian midfielder to score his first goal of the 2021-2022 La Liga campaign on Sunday afternoon.

Real Madrid are at their best when Modric is at his best, too. He remains one of the team’s most important players, even at the age of 36. After a fabulous showing over the international fixtures, Modric looks primed to carry that form into another important display in the league for Los Blancos.
