If Real Madrid fans could only have one signing in the summer 2022 transfer window, then Kylian Mbappe would be their choice. Of course, they would ideally want multiple top signings to fortify the squad, especially with depth issues in defense at center back, right back, and potentially even left back. But as with this past summer window, Mbappe is the obvious dream target.

You can sense the buzz around Madrid regarding Mbappe from the players, too. Karim Benzema has constantly been talking up Mbappe in the media, and the two are crushing it on the pitch together for France.

Toni Kroos has been full of praise for the PSG superstar, too.

And now, you can add legendary Real Madrid striker Fernando Morientes to the list of high-profile players who is excited for the prospect of Mbappe heading to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Morientes told ace reporter Fabrizio Romano that he is “sure” the 22-year-old will fulfill his dream of joining Los Blancos in the summer 2022 window as a free agent. The former striker was full of praise for Mbappe, lauding his mentality and his ability to fit the expectations and needs of Los Merengues as the next face of the club.

Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid is becoming a universally-held belief

Everyone knows Mbappe wants Madrid, including Morientes. And it says a lot that so many influential figures around the sport are stating their belief that he will join the club. Even as PSG may try to keep Mbappe around for another year or engage in more scare tactics, everyone else is resolute that Mbappe will get his wish, writing his own legacy at the Santiago Bernabeu like so many superstars before him.

Morientes can get overshadowed in the history books, but he had an excellent career, starring for clubs like Real Madrid and Liverpool. The striker is absolutely a legend of Los Blancos, having scored 72 goals for the club in La Liga with a further 17 Champions League goals. A well-respected player, Morientes won three Champions League titles across his career, with all three of them coming with Real. He also won La Liga twice with the Merengue club and the Copa del Rey once with Valencia.

So he has quite the resume across multiple leagues and clubs. Mbappe can have an even more impressive legacy in his career, including at Real Madrid. Knowing how ambitious he is, he will set winning three Champions Leagues as his minimum goal, even as he is still in search of his first as a PSG player.

We’ll see what the future holds for Mbappe, but there is this universal belief that he is Madrid-bound. Morientes is the latest man associated with Real to speak into the universe his opinion that it is only a matter of time until we see the next great No. 7 of the club presented at the Bernabeu.
