Erling Haaland has so many options in front of him right now. It’s a testament to how good a player he is, and it shows that this story will be one to follow throughout the summer window of 2022. There was a report last week that talked about Haaland circling Real Madrid as his dream club, and it’s pretty evident why.
Moreover, this latest report from Goal just tells us how much he wants a move to Madrid, but it also talks about a lot of other things.
According to the article, Haaland has told his close friends and family that Real Madrid is the club that he would prefer to go to next season. But, it does not mean that the deal is done, or that his decision is final.
Haaland realises he would have to share the stage with Mbappe at Real Madrid
This report mentions a lot of things, actually. According to this, Haaland knows that he’d have to share the spotlight with Mbappe in Madrid, while he would have the spotlight on himself in any other club, since he’d be the big signing with heaps of potential. The whole Mbappe thing is not something he’s too fond of, but it’s not something that bothers him a lot, either.
Although, it also says that the Norwegian is also very intrigued by the idea of playing in the Premier League as he likes the football that is played there. So, clearly, these are the two options that Haaland is prioritizing right about now.
Another thing that Haaland thinks about is, obviously, the money. Real Madrid probably won’t be able to offer him the same amount of money as, say, Manchester City or Manchester United – both of which have other things to worry about regarding their pursuit for Haaland – or any other top Premier League club. But, the thing is, it’s not Haaland’s main concern.
The main thing he’s looking for in a club is a competent, respectable sporting project, and I think Real Madrid can showcase theirs as the best one. The club is full of young players in most positions, while also having some experienced players in every department – particularly in the midfield, with the likes of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric still playing at the top level to this day.
Real also leave room for improvement and they acknowledge that they’d have to build around their centrepiece – whoever it may be – and they will do everything necessary to become the force they once were under Zinedine Zidane. I think that Haaland, along with Mbappe, can lead the team in that direction.
The report also says something a bit interesting. Real Madrid reportedly talked to Dortmund about a potential transfer of Haaland this season, but Dortmund gave them the same answer they gave to Chelsea – not now. I think that answer will change now when the next season is about to start.
All in all, I think it’s a very tough signing, but it’s not impossible by any means. It’s tough because it doesn’t matter if the player prefers going to a specific club until it actually happens. And for that, a lot of stuff needs to be done. Real Madrid recognise that though, and I’m sure they’re working on it as well as they can.
