RW Marco Asensio

Rodrygo Goes would be the man picked to start but he won’t be expected to get a call up after having to be a late withdrawal against Sevilla with gastroenteritis. Marco Asensio played as a starter on the night and didn’t impress but he’ll be called up again to prove himself on the right wing. He has improved in recent matches but what the manager will need from him now is to be consistent, which isn’t something we have become accustomed to with the Spaniard so far unfortunately.

LW Vinicius Junior

Do you bench Vinicius Junior when he’s fit and ready? No. It’s that simple. Resting him will have to be a priority very soon but at the moment, he’s too integral for the team especially one that doesn’t have a good enough replacement and he showed us all exactly why during his last performance where he scored an incredible winner to give Los Blancos all three points against Sevilla. Eden Hazard could be back for the match but he’s severely lacking in match fitness and that will not be a risk that Ancelotti will want to take.

ST Karim Benzema

Do you take a chance and rest Benzema while giving Luka Jovic his first start of the season? At some point, this will happen but maybe not just yet. The Frenchman has been our captain for the majority of the season and has shown just how much Real Madrid rely on him. It will be difficult to see him on the bench but he could be taken off early if all goes well while giving Jovic some much-needed match time. We could see an angry and dangerous version of Karim Benzema on the night after he somehow ended in fourth place in the 2021 Ballon d’Or rankings and didn’t even make the podium.
