Real Madrid must improve defensively:

This is the most crucial point and there is a reason I saved it for the last. The defense is scary. But what is scary about it? The main problem is not that we a stumbling against a top team, it is that despite our center backs- Eder Militao and David Alaba being in top form, the opposition is able to find spaces to exploit.

It was a problem against Athletic Bilbao, too. Passes were misplaced, and there were some great opportunities for strikers like Inaki Williams to score. But luckily, Real Madrid did manage to get all three points.

But it will not be the case against Real Sociedad. They have attackers like Alexander Isak, Portu, and Mikel Oyarzabal. If you remember, the last time Real Madrid played against them, the game ended a 1-1 draw which was a point rescued to keep Los Blancos alive in the title race.

But how can the defense be improved? Well, the key to high-quality defending is the focus and contribution of the full backs. Dani Carvajal will have a massive role in covering the right flank. He will have to be spot on with his challenges and ensure that not many crosses are attempted in the box.

The same goes for Ferland Mendy, too. Just like the last time, Portu will be a headache to the Frenchman and Mendy will need to do everything he can contain the Spaniard.

As for the center backs, they both are doing great. Militao has been an absolute beast in the aerial duels and his crucial blocks (like the ones in the last game) have helped Real Madrid emerge as the league leaders. As for Alaba, the Austrian deserves recognition for he has been doing a great job, and I hope to see him play at the highest level.
