Real Madrid Player Ratings from a lovely 2-0 win over Inter Milan

LW Vinicius Junior

This was another quieter performance from Vinicius Junior, but it was another smart, effective one against a big opponent. Vinicius does so much hard work in these Champions League matches, as he did last time out at Sheriff. The left winger led Los Blancos with three tackles, giving Ferland Mendy all the help he needed against an Inter side that likes to use the width of the pitch. Vini still had his big attacking moments, too, working hard to create for his teammates with three key passes and four fouls drawn. As usual, opposition defenders loathe having to deal with him, and Inter resorted to cheap fouls at times.

ST Luka Jovic

Luka Jovic’s hold-up play definitely comes in handy for Real Madrid. While the Serbian international did not contribute to a goal this time, he did pose a threat and worked hard to create for the wingers, especially Vinicius Junior. Jovic ended the match with a pair of key passes, and you can see how much harder he is trying to get involved on the ball and be a linking element for the other forwards. Because he knows that is important for a Real Madrid striker.

RW Rodrygo Goes

Rodrygo Goes was unlucky not to score on Tuesday night, as he smacked the post. He also got credited with an assist, though that is more for the stat sheet than anything else. Once again, Rodrygo’s most important contributions were his defensive work, and they were definitely needed against the underrated Ivan Perisic, who put in a lot of work to get the ball into the box. Rodrygo mostly prevented the Croatian wide man from crafting these chances. While Madridistas would like to see Rodrygo more involved, the young man is doing his job and helping the team.
