2. Sevilla CB Jules Kounde

The center-back position is indeed a priority given that David Alaba and Eder Militao are the only two acing it for Real Madrid in that position. Nacho Fernandez played woefully when he was given his chances but the very recent game against Granada in which he started was a different story. He did play well and even scored a goal.

However, there have been questions about his consistency. He is 31 at the moment and David Alaba is 29. That means two of our center-backs will be in the 30+ category when the next season starts. Not to say that they cannot continue performing at the same rate that they are now, but hunting for options wouldn’t be the worst thing to do.

My choice for the same is Sevilla’s Jules Kounde. And, this was a hard call to make given there were brilliant options like Milan Skriniar and Pau Torres already in discussion. However, let me justify my choice. Firstly, Kounde has a big advantage on his side and that is, he can play the right fullback position as well.

He could be someone like David Alaba, but for the right-hand side of the defense. I am drawing no comparisons here. The two players are a class apart but you get the advantage I am talking about. To have Jules Kounde would be a two in one solution whilst having Eder Militao, Alaba, and even Nacho in the squad.

Moreover, Kounde has been a frequent name on Real’s radar, and don’t underestimate Real Madrid’s ability to win races for players that it sets its heart on. Look no further than the deadline-day acquisition of the sought-after target Eduardo Camavinga. Kounde may very well be Real’s next headline maker in the transfers department.
