5 reasons why Real Madrid are among the 2021/22 Champions League title contenders
Real Madrid have a manager who had once won the title for them
When Zidane, a manager who won the Champions League three times in a row and took his team to the Champions League semifinals last season despite having to face tough challenges, left his job as Los Blancos’ manager, there was a lot of disappointment among the fanbase. After all, he is loved a lot by the fans in the Bernabeu.
But he was replaced by a manager who had trained the Frenchman before he became a full-time manager, in Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian manager held the joint record for winning the most number of Champions League titles as a manager, with Zidane and Bob Paisley being the others.
Ancelotti won the famous La Decima for Real Madrid in 2014, with an unforgettable campaign in which his team had established their domination against the best of the teams. He had found his own winning formula back then, with a front three of Bale, Benzema and Cristiano, backed by a hard-working and highly technical attack-minded midfielder in Angel Di Maria.
His current setup is the same 4-3-3, but the system and quality of the team aren’t the same. But still, as I have mentioned in the previous slide, he has found a winning formula that is working for everyone, and he is sticking to it. There can be complaints about his hesitation to rotate his team, but many can’t point their finger at him as he is producing the results.
One can only trust the manager and accept the fact that he knows what he is doing as a manager who has won this reputed title with two different clubs a total of three times.
