Real Madrid has set its best foot in attack this season. They are scoring for fun. Even if tough oppositions pose them a challenge they have almost always found a way through in the second 45. They have scored 37 goals off 15 matches in the league at an average of 2.31 goals per game. In the Champions League, they managed to score 14 in their six group stage games.
That’s not all, they have also outscored their xG in both competitions. In LaLiga, they are very impressive in that department with a difference of almost 10 goals between the actually scored and expected figures, per Fbref. In the Champions League, the difference is almost 3 goals.
However, a big reason behind these extravagant scoring records is Karim Benzema, Real’s talisman. However, the Galactico is now 33 years old and in a couple more years, he’d feel the need for a quality backup. Benzema is the club’s present. But, Florentino Perez and Co. should start their plans for the future. As such, which current players should be of interest to materialize a Galactic Trio in attack in the near future? 3. Juventus RW Federico Chiesa
Juventus’s Federico Chiesa is a player that I rate in high regard. He is a special player who can make his presence felt with his smart cuts into the box and quality curlers. He caught my eye even before the European Championships but the Euros was a competition that made me keep this player in my book of players I’d want in Madrid.
Federico Chiesa can reach the Galactic levels. Though he is 24 years old right now, he is someone who shows immense promise. I know 24 can be a little more than what Real’s conventional targets are (21-22 age category). But, in my opinion, he could be Real’s solution for the right-wing.
Yes, we already have Rodrygo Goes making a strong case for his future at the right wing but for this list to be fair, I had to list the best options in all three positions of the trio. Federico Chiesa has that superstar quality. He is a good dribbler, is very handy with his defensive contributions while dropping back and his shots from the edge of the box are pure pieces of beauty. He is thus my pick for the right-hand side of Real’s Galactic trio of the future.
