Matthijs de Ligt to Real Madrid transfer rumors are back on

Earlier this season, superagent Mino Raiola, who is also Erling Haaland’s agent (and Paul Pogba’s, for what it’s worth), dropped a hint that Matthijs de Ligt could leave Juventus in 2022. At the time, the Bianconeri were off to a slow start, and things have not really improved since.

De Ligt loves Juve and has emerged as a young leader in a defense filled with leaders, but with the Old Lady headed for the Europa League in 2022-2023, Raiola could help push his client to a new move that would help his career more.

Raiola has taken the next step towards a possible de Ligt exit next summer. According to Fabrizio Romano, the most powerful agent in football told NRC that the Dutchman is ready for the “next step” in his career.

And what may be more interesting to Madridistas is that he mentioned Barcelona, PSG, and Real Madrid as examples of teams that could sign the center back.

Raiola has been pushing his buddy Joan Laporta’s club as an option for his clients despite their financial difficulties. They may not have much money left over if they sign Ferran Torres from Manchester City, who already seems like a stretch financially, but it is true that their prestige as a club means they can never be ruled out. And de Ligt would make sense for the ambitious Ligue 1 powerhouse.

As for Madrid, they turned down de Ligt once before to sign Eder Militao in a decision they do not regret in the slightest. But we’ll see if anything changes. As Madridistas know first-hand, de Ligt is a hell of a player and a special young talent at center back in his own right.
