Erling Haaland pre-agreement update, chances of staying in Dortmund

This is a question that keeps popping up. Even though it has been answered a few times, it seems as if there is still confusion and conflicting rumors regarding Erling Haaland’s future. Given the way David Alaba’s move transpired and the rumors surrounding another future free agent in Antonio Rudiger, it makes sense that many Madridistas assume Florentino Perez has something cooked up with Mino Raiola and Haaland already.

It’s possible there is some sort of loose agreement or a plan in place connecting Haaland to a dream club of his, but there is nothing official.

Mino Raiola has said in that same NOS interview, via Fabrizio Romano, that there is no pre-agreement arranged with Real Madrid. In fact, he made it crystal clear that there is no pre-agreement between Erling Haaland and any club.

And it makes sense. Why would Haaland or Raiola, for that matter, lock in a deal? Nothing is certain in football. When you have the leverage and the power as the most desirable player on the open market (because Mbappe wants nobody but Madrid, he is not up for a bidding war amongst clubs), why sign anything? Committing would be unwise.

And another interesting Raiola nugget. As has been whispered, Raiola teased that Haaland staying in Dortmund for another year has not been ruled out. If that happens, that’s actually good for Real Madrid. And here’s why. (If you don’t have the time to read and just want a one word summation for why, “Benzema” shall suffice.)
