Real Madrid Femenino vs. Sporting Huelva started out as a tense game, as Las Blancas were locked in a 0-0 stalemate with the visitors for about an hour. Huelva came into this match near the bottom of the table, so for Real, it was a question of “when” not “if” they would be able to find a breakthrough.

And find a breakthrough they did!

Just before the hour mark, Real Madrid converted from a corner, with center back Rocio Galvez flicking the ball over her head to Esther Gonzalez. The top-class striker then did the exact same thing, hitting the bar. But like any great striker, she followed up her miss and tucked away the opener.

Real’s second goal was scored starting with a move from Esther into the box and finishing with a goal from fellow forward Nahikari Garcia. And the third goal was another one from a cut inside and shot from the edge of the box by the exciting Athenea del Castillo.

These were all good goals scored in the space of 10 minutes, and they helped Real Madrid Femenino notch a 3-0 win over Sporting Huelva.

Nahikari Garcia will find her true level for Real Madrid Femenino soon

But it is the second goal I really want to focus on, scored by Nahikari. She was signed this summer from Real Sociedad, and although Madridistas were definitely excited by the acquisitions of Athenea, Esther, and Inter’s Caroline Moller, Nahikari’s signing was seen as the crowning achievement of Las Blancas in the summer window.

It has taken some time for her to find her footing in Madrid. Esther was the same case, but, recently, she has been on fire in front of goal. And now, she has scored nine goals in Primera Iberdrola after being the league’s second-top scorer in 2020-2021 at Levante, behind only Barcelona superstar Jenni Hermoso.

Nahikari is now sitting on three goals (and an assist) with all of the goals coming in November and December. And with David Aznar out the door, you get the feeling things are only going to keep improving for Nahikari and the offense.

Garcia isn’t yet 100 percent clicking with her new team, but Madridistas are seeing the signs. After months of debates regarding how her, Esther, and the rest of the group can co-exist, it was wonderful to see not only both players score within minutes of each other, but also to see them involved in a goal together for Garcia’s third of the season.

dark. Next. The 5 players Real Madrid should have never sold

It is only a matter of time before Real Madrid reaches their highest level. They are back up to sixth in the league after wallowing in the bottom half of the standings for far too long. Kosovare Asllani’s and Marta Cardona’s returns have been massive for Las Blancas, but so, too, has been the improving chemistry and connection between the players.
