Real Madrid have an idea for how they want to approach signing Erling Haaland, but will it come off? They are showing interest in three talented young players around Europe, as well as an old veteran who came up the ranks in La Fabrica as a prospect. And finally, the latest update on the futures of one of the club’s loanees. All of this in today’s transfer news roundup.

Now Dortmund might want Reinier to go

When Reinier Jesus first joined Borussia Dortmund on loan in the 2020 summer transfer window, most Madridistas reacted to the news positively. Reinier had interest from other notable clubs in Europe, such as Real Sociedad, Ajax, and Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga. But in the end, he and Real chose Dortmund as his next destination, having just seen Achraf Hakimi blossom in his two seasons at the Signal Iduna Park.

Instead of finding another level, the man who flashed for a half-season at Castilla after a 30 million euro move from Flamengo has done absolutely nothing in about 18 months in Dortmund.

We saw rumors of a possible new loan last season, but Real and Reinier have stuck it out. This season, nothing has changed for him, even under a third manager in Marco Rose. There were initially rumblings that BVB did not want to give up on a player for free this season by agreeing to the termination of a loan, but that seems to be changing now.

BILD reports, via MARCA, that Dortmund are now willing to let Reinier go because they have no use for him and want to clear out players like him from their wages so that they can make upgrades elsewhere. That sounds like the situation Takefusa Kubo was in last winter with Villarreal when he left the Yellow Submarine for Getafe, which didn’t help him either.

Where could Reinier go next? BILD says Real Madrid want to find a club within LaLiga for him, which would make sense. LaLiga would fit Reinier better, a club in Spain would give Real a chance to keep closer tabs on the Brazilian attacking midfielder, and staying within the league could be good for his development or a future sale.
