HE IS EXCELLENT AT DEVELOPING PLAYERS AND UTILISING THEIR TALENTS

There’s a beautiful quote by Andrea Pirlo on Carlo Ancelotti. Pirlo in his early days at AC Milan was often played higher up the field and more often than not he failed to impress the manager. When Carlo Ancelotti took over, the Italian identified Pirlo’s talent and decided to play him deeper as a central defensive midfielder covering the back four.

It was a surprise for everyone, including Pirlo himself. But today, Andrea Pirlo is considered to be one of the world’s best midfielders to have ever graced the game. And all credit goes to Carlo Ancelotti who revolutionised Andrea Pirlo’s career.

“It’s like rediscovering your father again. “He changed my career, putting me in front of the defence. We shared some unforgettable moments. We had a magnificent past together.” Pirlo via ESPN

Andrea Pirlo is one of the many players that Ancelotti has developed. This season, we’ve already witnessed the unbelievable development of Vinicius Jr under the Italian manager. Vinicius was previously labelled as an upcoming talent but has now cemented his status as one of La Liga’s best after being converted into a lethal inverted winger under Ancelotti’s tutelage.

Not only have we witnessed Vinicius Jr’s remarkable improvement but Carlo Ancelotti has also seemed to have managed to get the best out of Marco Asensio. Asensio was a previously frustrating figure at the club due to his inconsistent performances. But now, he seems to be getting better every matchday.

Then there’s also Luka Jovic, the Serbian who seemed to have lost all his motivation under Zinedine Zidane but seems to have rejuvenated his fighting spirit under the Italian. So far this season, Ancelotti has done a praiseworthy job at developing players and with time we could see more impact from players like Rodrygo, Eduardo Camavinga, Federico Valverde and hopefully Antonio Blanco as well.

Although the current squad has a perfect balance of experience and youth, Carlo Ancelotti will definitely consider incorporating more of the youth into his system as the likes of Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Karim Benzema are nearing closer to the final years of their respective careers. On that note, Ancelotti should remain in charge to ensure a smooth transition in the squad by getting more youngsters involved and resting key veteran stars often.
