SADIO MANE

After an incredibly good 2019 in which he won the Champions League, Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, Premier League Golden Boot and also was the losing finalist in the AFCON, Sadio Mane can feel hard done by the fact that all his achievements went under the radar and did not earn him a Ballon d’Or or any other accolade. He would surely have been a brilliant signing for Real Madrid.

Liverpool were definitely not letting Mohamed Salah leave, and so Sadio Mane could have been the ideal target to pursue given that Real Madrid were not short of money back then and Liverpool have always been a club which talks when the right offer is made. While Mane did go on to win the Premier League that season, he would have been an asset for the Merengues if he were signed.

Mane is a consistent goal-scorer who has only recently experienced a barren run in front of goal, but even that was overcome with a goal in a big match against Chelsea. The Senegalese is the epitome of a big-game player, having scored against all of the Premier League top six at some point in his career and also having had a rich record in the Champions League’s knockout phases.

He has been an all-around product for many years, and one who consistently delivers the goods without taking away much credit from other of his teammates. Mane is a speedy option on the wing and also tracks back to defend which makes him a manager’s dream. His link-up play would have also ensured Karim Benzema’s high-scoring numbers remain unfazed.
