Real Madrid have huge, huge plans for the future. They know it’s been tough — at least on the European end — to win and compete for trophies. Some players left, some are past their prime and the attack is just dependent on Karim Benzema and Vinicius Jr. The third position is largely dispensable, for now.

That should change if or when Kylian Mbappe makes the almost inevitable move to Real Madrid just before next season. It’s going to be special.

But, we know that he’s not the only player in Florentino Perez’s mind. He wants to go all out, like he did in 2009 when he signed Karim Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo and others all in one window. We can expect at least an attempt at something similar.

Perez wants Haaland at Real Madrid. I don’t know how all four players are going to fit, but I just know — through multiple reports and sources — that Perez will try to go for him. Now, we know Haaland wants Real Madrid. About that: BILD reported recently that he wants to take the same path as Cristiano Ronaldo did when he first joined Real.

Erling Haaland wants to do what Cristiano Ronaldo did at Real Madrid – mark an era at the club

This report mainly talks about him staying at Dortmund till the end of the season, which makes sense. But then it touches on the whole Cristiano Ronaldo situation, and it just makes sense for a player of Haaland’s calibre to mark an era at a great club. He’s definitely capable of it.

Cristiano Ronaldo is probably the greatest player to have ever played for the club, still struggle to wrap my head around the fact that he managed to score 450 goals in just 438 games. Even though Perez decided against signing Ronaldo for a season in the summer, the statistics, the trophies and everything else that he achieved still goes on to show how big the Portuguese’s legacy is at Real Madrid.

Haaland, according to this report and many others, wishes for a Real Madrid move more than anything else, and it would be great to see him succeed at the club. It would pretty much guarantee some sort of success for both Real Madrid and Erling Haaland individually, as they’d be bound to win some sort of silverware every season with a team like this.

The main thing would be about sharing the spotlight with Kylian Mbappe, because I think Mbappe arrives irrespective of Haaland’s decision. Would Haaland be interested in marking an era alongside Mbappe? We don’t know that. We do know that stuff like this has worked before in the past, but sometimes not as well as we thought it would. It would depend on the two players more than anything else, and it would definitely make Haaland think about his decision a couple of times more.

It would also lead us to a question of how the coach would make it work with four other-worldly talents fighting for three spots without sacrificing the defensive stability of the team. But, that’s definitely a question for solely the near future, because I think that whenever Benzema retires or leaves, Haaland would be perfectly suited to lead the line. But, if it does happen, then for the next two seasons at least, either someone will have to take a backseat, or the coach will have to somehow incorporate all of them.

Either way, it’s going to be incredibly tough – although not at all impossible – for Real to land Haaland, since there are other teams competing for the same player’s signature. It helps that Haaland reportedly prefers a move to Real, but it doesn’t matter sometimes, because other factors will play their part. But that’s a discussion for another day.
