LW Vinicius Junior

Was there ever any doubt? Vinicius Junior had no direct goal involvement in the season’s first Clasico played at Camp Nou. Yet, he was the star of the show, at least for the Catalan fans who couldn’t do anything other than resorting to shouting out slangs at Real Madrid’s newfound Protagonist as he was being taken off in the second half.

Vini didn’t have a direct goal involvement in that game but he drove the Catalan defense crazy with his footwork, humiliating the likes of Oscar Mingueza and Eric Garcia playing on the right side of the defense for Barcelona. It was almost as if Vini owned Barcelona just like Cristiano used to during his time at Real Madrid.

Vini Jr is in the form of his life. Tougher oppositions, hostile audience, man-marking, specialized game plans, and a deadly virus: Nothing has yet been able to stop Real Madrid’s electric 21-year-old. I mentioned big-game performances while talking about Benzema. But, it should be noted that Vini himself is becoming a clutch player for Los Blancos, having assisted both goals in El Derbi and scoring a beautiful winner against Sevilla.

There is no doubt in my mind that he’d end up deciding this game. Whether he gets a goal involvement is a different question. Take the goals out of his game, and even then he is capable enough to cause panic in this below-par Barcelona defense.
