Dani Alves ends up being Barcelona’s best performer

The world’s most decorated defender, Dani Alves made his return to Spain and his former home, FC Barcelona. Alves is already a Catalan legend and in his second stint at Barcelona, he has easily been their most impressive player within only two appearances. He dropped a masterclass away at Linares in the Copa del Rey and continued the same form into the game at Granada.

Kudos to the maestro who is managing to perform better than many teenagers at 38 years of age in Barca’s squad but at the same time, it is a huge problem for Xavi Hernández to ponder upon. He really needs to push all these youngsters to perform at their fullest potential. Barcelona is surely looking better than they did under Ronald Koeman. But quite frankly, there is still a lot of work to be done.

Alves led his team with seven key passes in the game against Linares while creating two big scoring chances, per SofaScore. He then went on to continue his form against Granada where he bagged a brilliant assist for Luuk de Jong. That goal was also the only Catalan goal in the game. In the end, they were held by Granada at 1-1 and Dani Alves was surely the star.

This game against Madrid will be similar as well. There wouldn’t be much to talk about Barcelona’s performance other than Dani Alves. The 38-year-old Brazilian adds a lot more going forward than he does in defense. His crossing, ball progression, and attacking instinct would be Barcelona’s only positive to take away from this fixture.
