3. Better Defensive Awareness:

Wonder how Eder Militao has been so good defensively with each passing game? The key to being a good defender is spot-on tackling. But to play for Real Madrid, you cannot be just good. You have to be the best.

And what is the key to that? A great defender is one who is always cautious, always focused, and always aware of his surroundings. As I mentioned in the last slide as well, a player always tends to learn positive things from his teammates.

And who has Eder Militao learned this from? Real Madrid’s old guard- Nacho Fernandez. The Spaniard is one of the most experienced defenders in Real Madrid’s squad this season. Not only this, despite being a bench player for most of his career at Real Madrid, Nacho has often proved his worth when he got the chance and his loyalty is something to be valued.

I don’t remember the match or the name, but a commentator once said that there are two types of defenders- the cautious one and the one who stays positive on the field. Nacho is the cautious one. He is always focused and it is this quality that makes him a special player. He gives his 100% and his focus is what minimizes the scope for mistakes.

Apart from this, training is an important routine of a player’s career and helps a lot in improving all aspects of his game. What surprises so many fans is how much Eder Militao has improved in such a short period. When a player trains with beasts like Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane, he is got to improve.

If you noticed, this season, his tackles have been very spot on and his timing has been perfect. Statistically speaking, the Brazilian averages 1.77 tackles a game. Apart from that, he averages 1.9 interceptions and 3 clearances a game. These statistics are very impressive and have earned him a lot of recognition in recent months.

Eder Militao has done a pretty decent job in learning Nacho’s quality. He has made a few mistakes in the past few games, but the Brazilian has been doing well overall and his defensive awareness has improved with time. A more focused Eder Militao can achieve great heights of success and a lot of trophies at Real Madrid.
