4. Jesus Vallejo to Wolves (2019/20)

Following Eder Militao’s signing and Jesus Vallejo’s injury-ridden spell at Real Madrid from 2017 to 2019, the club made the decision to loan Vallejo to a Premier League side in Wolves, for an year. With Nuno Espirito Santo building a great Wolves side that focuses a lot on their defensive structure, fans expected to see a considerable improvement in Vallejo’s game.

But things went very bad for the Spanish international, as he got to play a total of only 162 minutes in 2 games in the Premier League. Those two games came at the beginning of the season, and those two games ended up as a loss and draw against Chelsea and Southampton respectively. Vallejo’s performance was disappointing in those games, and that put a full stop to his short stint in England. He didn’t play a single minute after the Southampton game and was left out of the squad nine times in 15 matchdays.

Vallejo’s journey at Wolves started with him saying that the manager Nuno Espirito Santo himself had called him to invite the Spaniard to join the Wolves. But his journey ended with Nuno saying before the media that Wolves, Vallejo and Real Madrid needed to talk about Vallejo’s future. Eventually, he was the person who officially revealed that Vallejo would leave the club in January, as Vallejo returned to Spain and joined Granada on loan.
