1. Reinier Jesus to BVB Dortmund (2020-22)

Reinier’s name is the immediate thing that will come to your mind after reading the title because his loan spell at BVB Dortmund is seriously the worst loan deal ever possible. Even a word of superlative degree like “worst” is not enough to describe the last two years of Reinier’s career.

At the time of Reinier’s signing for Real Madrid in January 2020, there was a doubt if his big-money signing was really needed for the club as they had already signed two Brazilian forwards before him. And looking at the way Real Madrid have handled Reinier, one can’t resist criticising the club.

Reinier was loaned to BVB Dortmund for two years, similar to Achraf Hakimi’s spell at the Signal Iduna Park which was a successful one. But the Brazilian’s loan spell at the German club is a complete opposite of Hakimi’s stint, as he had played only 614 minutes in 17 months at Dortmund, scoring a goal last season.

It seems like it would have been better if he had simply stayed at the Castilla because these two years have been absolutely horrible for him. We can blame the high attacking depth of Dortmund and their unreasonable attitude towards Reinier, but it has been a very strange loan spell for Reinier, with his parent club also not doing enough to improve his situation.

Reinier’s father has admitted that they are trying to bring him back to Spain, but BVB wouldn’t allow him to do so, while MARCA has reported that Dortmund is considering the option of terminating his loan deal. But nothing has happened so far, and only 7 days are remaining in the transfer market.

Reinier might have age on his side, but this situation is not something he would ever wish for. This is simply the worst loan spell a player can ever dream of.
