It is an obvious pick, ain’t it? The current starting centre-back of Real Madrid is already among the best defenders in Europe, and he is on his way to becoming the best defender of Europe, in some years. As an excellent well-rounded centre-back who was groomed by Pepe at Porto, and trained alongside Sergio Ramos at Real Madrid, Militao is destined for greatness.

The best part is that he is only 24 yet, and has many more years ahead of him. Hopefully, Real Madrid’s long-serving Brazilians and legends like Marcelo and Casemiro have already made Militao realize the importance of having a long career at Real Madrid, and have groomed him for the next generation.

The 29-year-old David Alaba is Real Madrid’s current left centre-back, but he won’t be here forever. There are centre-backs like Pau Torres, Matthijs De Ligt, and Jules Kounde, but I see them going to other clubs. Keeping all these factors in mind and looking at the recent rumours, my pick is Wesley Fofana, Leicester’s centre-back.

The 21-year-old hasn’t played a single minute this season due to a serious injury, but he has proved his worth to the world last season, and he has age on his side to play well after his recovery. According to a report from MARCA, he has been on the club’s radar as a possible transfer target, and even the Frenchman has admitted that it is his dream to play for Real Madrid one day.
