Real Madrid Transfers: The biggest competitor to watch for Tchouameni

I really think Real Madrid should go for Aurelien Tchouameni in the summer. Whether that’ll actually happen or not is an entirely different conversation, given the transfer value of the player, but there seems to be a need for a player like him in the team.

According to reports, the team has met with the player and his representatives in Monaco and are genuinely interested in signing him.

But, of course, they’re not the only team that is interested in Tchouameni, and that’s a well-known fact. Actually, according to a report from MARCA, there are a couple of Premier League teams interested in his services, and are leading the race for the player at the moment: Chelsea and Manchester United.

Chelsea are Real Madrid’s biggest competition for Aurelien Tchouameni

Chelsea have been interested in Tchouameni for a LONG time now. I can remember reports from last year about Chelsea’s interest in Tchouameni, and we’ll talk more about them later. Of course, the report mentions Manchester United as well, but here’s what I think: I really don’t know if Tchouameni would want to move to Manchester United right now, given the messy state they’re currently in.

The team is in shambles, there isn’t a lot going on for them, there’s practically no chemistry and even though they’ve won some games, things aren’t looking too good for them right now.

Chelsea are in a much better state in every single way. And they actually need Tchouameni as well. Jorginho, N’golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic are their current first-choice midfielders, and even though they’re good players, the Blues really need a youngster that can provide them with some quality depth right now and lead the team forward once it is time.

And, Chelsea are in a much better financial state than Real Madrid in the sense of actually offering things to players and teams. They can afford to spend a little extra on him as a transfer fee, and can give Tchouameni the extra bonus that Real might not be able to, considering the plans that the club has to get other players in different positions, and the effect that the whole pandemic has had on Los Blancos’ financial situation.

It’s not terrible, of course, it’s very well managed, but at the moment, Real Madrid can’t really compete with the Manchester Citys and the Chelseas in the transfer market.

But, the thing is, Real Madrid need Tchouameni just as much. In fact, I’d argue they need him even more. You’re probably thinking that hey, Real just got Camavinga, why would they need Tchouameni? That’s simply because there is no like-for-like replacement for Casemiro in the whole team. Tchouameni would definitely be that if he is to join. I can’t say the same for Camavinga because he’s a different type of player.

Players like Casemiro and Tchouameni are very rare in this day and age, because teams usually go for a player that’ll help them control the game rather than an enforcer and an anchor. But Casemiro’s importance forces Real Madrid to go for Tchouameni. It wills the move, of course, unless the asking price is too high. And if they have to fight with Chelsea for his signature, then they’ll definitely have to do that. Chelsea are the team to watch out for in this race, and I hope Real’s higher-ups are aware of that.
