3 Real Madrid forwards whose futures are up in the air
Real Madrid has an abundance of attacking talent within its squad. Real Madrid arguably possesses the best forward line in terms of sheer talent and proven mettle. However, performances on the field precede the reputation off it.
With the imminent arrival of Kylian Mbappe, the club will be hoping to usher in a new era with Mbappe leading the forward line for the next decade. Talented youngsters like Brahim Diaz and Kubo have performed well in their respective spells with AC Milan and Mallorca. This has rendered a few incumbent forwards dispensable.
Hence we look at three forwards whose futures are up in the air ahead of next year’s transfer window.
1. Luka Jovic
There is no getting around the fact that Luka Jovic has not been given adequate minutes to prove his worth. When the striker you were brought to support/replace is Karim Benzema, life can be unfair. Truth beholds, he looks out of sort whenever he is on the field.
One cannot doubt Luka Jovic’s talent, but we can question his fit for the setup. He is rarely involved in the play, does not demand the ball from his wingbacks, and is not able to finish off the half-chances in the box something he thrived on during his Frankfurt days. All these aspects make him polar opposite to what Benzema offers.
Lack of minutes has already resulted in a loan spell back to his former club Eintracht Frankfurt in 2021. There were rumors about another loan spell this winter transfer window. However, an untimely injury to Benzema may offer him another chance at redemption.
Well, Jovic may not be leaving Real Madrid as of now, however, his future is up in the air. Benzema’s injury offers him a glimmer of hope. That comes with a caveat – Will Carlo even trust him to start?
