Eduardo Camavinga

Need I remind you why Real Madrid splashed €45 million-plus on a 19-year-old?

Camavinga is viewed as a key piece of the club’s midfield for a decade or more to come. The Angolan-born midfielder has already been a regular under Carlo Ancelotti, featuring 18 times since completing the move from Stade Rennes on Deadline Day in August.

Camavinga plays so smooth, it looks like the ball is tethered to his foot as he skilfully, yet effortlessly, glides between the lines to push the ball forward.

Much like Valverde, Camavinga would be a starter at most big clubs around Europe, but he is patiently waiting behind the always-trusty Casemiro. Camavinga has plenty of years of football in front of him, so the focus in his first season in Spain is making sure he gets minutes when it’s possible.

The numbers might be slightly skewed from playing in 14of the 22 league matches to date, but Camavinga ranks in the 99th and 98th percentile in pressures (28.31 per 90) and tackles (3.97 per 90).

Linking Camavinga with Valverde and perhaps fellow French U-23 teammate Aurélien Tchouaméni in the very near future will only increase his ability and complement his many skills.
