“Every Player is Important”
Carlo Ancelotti is a great manager for journalists as he likes to give them time and go deep into his responses during pre-match and post-match press conferences. One of the most repeated things for him is saying that certain fringe players are important or will be important as the season goes on like we have seen most recently with Dani Ceballos.
He has yet to show how Ceballos will be important as he continues to come in during the final minutes of some matches. It’s all well and good to explain the importance of squad players in public and that holds weight for them as they will expect things to turn for them. When they realize that these seem to be nothing but empty words, it’s hard to keep their spirits up.
The team is at a very difficult part of the season and there are a lot of games coming up which could make or break the year especially when only six points separate Real Madrid from second-placed Sevilla in the league, and we prepare to take on Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League. With players such as Hazard, Bale, Jovic, Camavinga, and others on the bench, it’s worth giving them the opportunities they deserve to show what they’re capable of.
In last weekend’s match against Granada, the decision to bring on Federico Valverde in the second half completely changed the game. Following that up with substituting in Hazard and Jovic gave Real Madrid full control of the match and they were able to finally find the winning goal through a great goal by Asensio.
Players change matches and we have a squad full of players who are able to change the outcome of the game in an instant. Yes, many of them have struggled to offer what they have been brought in for but you don’t lose quality in a day.
