2. Miguel Gutierrez

I have no doubts in saying that Miguel Gutierrez must be Real Madrid’s back-up left-back this season. The Spaniard is currently one of Castilla’s best players, and he has the potential to become one of the best full-backs in Europe.

Miguel made headlines with his first start for the first team against Granada in May 2021, as he had assisted Luka Modric with an excellent pass. After that game, it felt like we might be witnessing a star in the making and Miguel continued to impress, under Zidane. He didn’t get to play a lot under Ancelotti, due to him being third in the pecking order and also his own fitness concerns. But he has made every opportunity count, and he also claimed an assist against Celta Vigo.

He has shown that he has what it takes to succeed in the first team in each and every opportunity he got. All he needs is some trust from the board and Carlo Ancelotti, to gain his spot in the first team as Ferland Mendy’s backup. He’s 20 already, and a talent like him shouldn’t be playing in the Segunda B anymore.

But it seems like he doesn’t have the club’s trust, as per a report from Tomas Gonzalez-Martin from ABC. His agent has confirmed on Twitter that the attack-minded left-back won’t leave on loan next season, but that doesn’t lead to any conclusions. One thing is for sure though, Miguel Gutierrez is a talent Real Madrid shouldn’t lose at any cost, and the club has to show some faith in their academy for once.
