Real Madrid will face Deportivo Alaves on Saturday night at the Santiago Bernabeu in their next match in LaLiga, looking to bounce back after an embarrassing performance at the Parc des Princes in the Champions League.

Los Blancos only lost 1-0 in scoreline, with Kylian Mbappe providing the final blow in stoppage time, but the truth is that they weren’t even in the match. Real were thoroughly dominated in midfield, with their attack providing no threat. Carlo Ancelotti had poor gameplans against Villarreal and Athletic Bilbao in recent matches, but his rather cowardly approach to the PSG fixture has received even harsher criticism from Madridistas.

Alaves is a tough opponent, but Real Madrid need to get all three points in front of their home fans this weekend. If not, serious questions will continue to be asked of the embattled manager.

Here is a prediction for Real’s starting lineup for LaLiga’s Matchday 25 against Alaves.

GK Thibaut Courtois

A must-start, Thibaut Courtois was the man who nearly rescued a victory for Los Blancos at the Parc des Princes. He may have to come up big again, as Joselu carries a real threat as Alaves’ star man up top.

LB David Alaba

Ferland Mendy did not look 100 percent against PSG and honestly should not start this match. I understand Real Madrid want David Alaba at center back in every match, but that just is not feasible. Real cannot take chances with the health of their key players.

CB Nacho Fernandez

With David Alaba at left back, Nacho Fernandez starts in the middle. He was one of the bright spots in that awful Copa del Rey loss to Athletic Bilbao and is generally good at center back, aside from one rough patch of form to start 2021-22.

CB Eder Militao

The world-class Eder Militao showed his quality through much of the match against PSG, even if he got dusted by Mbappe to close the match. Militao has become one of Real’s most dependable and vital players, and he will surely start at the heart of the defense on Matchday 25.

RB Dani Carvajal

The best option at right back, Dani Carvajal is in need of a bounce-back match against Alaves. He was torn to shreds by Mbappe, but he wasn’t given much help either. Carlo Ancelotti’s gameplan left the Spaniard hung out to dry, and right winger Marco Asensio was an even bigger embarrassment, offering zero cover for the right back. Carvajal is not a guarantee to start, but he should be out there.
