As the Kylian Mbappe transfer saga rolls on, Real Madrid fans are becoming less preoccupied with the PSG renewal rumors and more interested in the potential ripple effects of acquiring the best football player on the planet. (Not just the “best young player” anymore!)

The biggest impact could be a reciprocal one on another top attacking target in Erling Haaland. But right now, the rumor mill is making more intriguing connections with key figureheads who could join Real Madrid in an off-the-pitch capacity.

Mauricio Pochettino is one man who could see his chances of joining the greatest club in the world increase if Mbappe signs. He and Mbappe seem to have a good relationship in Paris, contrary to what people initially thought, and Pochettino has long been linked to the Madrid job. In fact, if Real weren’t so worried about walking on eggshells with PSG because of their interest in acquiring Mbappe, they may have even tried to steal him away instead of hiring Carlo Ancelotti before the 2021-22 season.

But Pochettino doesn’t really excite Madridistas. As we are seeing this season, there are valid doubts about his ability to take a top club to the next level.

There can be nod bouts, however, about another major player in football who could join Real Madrid if Mbappe signs. Mbappe has worked with him before, but, unlike Pochettino, this man was not his manager.

Luis Campos and Kylian Mbappe could join forces again

Luis Campos has been linked to Madrid before. The man who constructed the Monaco and Lille sides that dethroned PSG in Ligue 1 is currently working as a consultant, waiting for the next big project. And Real Madrid is one of the teams he helps out. Campos’ eye for scouting talent is undisputed. After all, Mbappe is one of his prime successes, but certainly not the only one. You have heard of Victor Osimhen, the star striker at Napoli? Another one of many.

According to a report from MARCA’s Mario Cortegana and Juan Ignacio Garcia-Ochoa, Luis Campos still has a close relationship with Kylian Mbappe. Close enough that he still talks to the player and is reportedly involved in some way in the No. 7’s future decision.

Better yet, from the perspective of Madridistas, if Los Blancos were to acquire Mbappe officially, then Campos would be in line to take on a “more advanced” role within the club than just an occasional consultant.

Of course, Campos and Florentino Perez are plenty familiar with each other. Campos worked with the club before creating two Ligue 1 champions, as he helped the team during the Jose Mourinho administration about a decade ago.

Campos could not only help Madrid sign Mbappe, but he could then play a key role in assembling a killer team of the future assembled around the player who helped him achieve great success in Monaco.

The Mbappe signing alone is the stuff of dreams. But Campos with Mbappe? Madridistas would be over the moon.
