Real Madrid Transfers: Even Florentino Pérez thinks of Kylian Mbappé as a loanee
By Parshva Shah
It seems like we are into the third act of a Hollywood movie. The story is nearing its crescendo as we approach the end of the season. We are inching closer and closer to the day Real Madrid can finally announce PSG superstar Kylian Mbappé as their latest Galáctico. However, the inner circle of Florentino Pérez believes that the Real Madrid president considers the French player to be ‘on loan’ at PSG.
That comes from an article by Ulises Sanchez-Flor of El Confidencial. It’s almost become like a game of chess, one where the two players involved (Florentino Pérez/Real Madrid and Nasser Al-Khelaifi/PSG) are trying to get one over the other in a series of moves.
It all began with Pérez offering 200 million euros for Kylian Mbappé in the summer of 2021, which PSG rejected without any hesitation or negotiation. Now, PSG have been offering the 23-year old renewal after renewal, only for them to be rejected every single time.
Make no mistake though, as Mbappé could still pretty much end up signing that new contract to stay put at Parc des Princes. It is something that Florentino Pérez and his crew are pretty much aware of. At this point, anything is possible. The second leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie between Real Madrid and PSG in March might heavily influence Mbappé’s decision.
Kylian Mbappe has always dreamed of Real Madrid
However, there’s a big reason as to why Pérez might consider the World Cup winner to be a Real Madrid loanee plying his trade at PSG. Let’s think about it. Mbappé released a comic strip in 2021 where he showed how he dreamt of playing for Real Madrid. He even publicly stated that he wanted to go to Real Madrid and Real Madrid only, if PSG allowed him to leave ceremoniously.
Pérez is calm. “Tranquilo,” if I had to put it in Spanish. He knows that if Mbappé had to renew with PSG, he could’ve done it already. This entire saga would’ve been put to bed long, long back because Real Madrid have made it known to the player that they want him to be the next big thing to arrive at the Bernabéu. Not even the potential elimination at the hands of PSG can stop Kylian Mbappé from joining Los Blancos.
This has been quite a saga to follow. Things have gotten interesting at every step. However, the world knows, Florentino Pérez knows, Kylian Mbappé knows that he is going to be a Real Madrid player next season. Everyone, except Nasser Al-Khelaifi, PSG, and the Emir of Qatar. Because they see Mbappé as one of their own.
A loyal player who’ll showcase his commitment and loyalty by penning down a new contract. Unlike a certain shrewd negotiator and footballing genius, who believes Mbappé is a done deal. He’s a Real Madrid player on loan at PSG, until the end of the season. That’s when one saga will end, giving birth to a new one. A new era. Mbappé’s era.
