4. Borja Mayoral

It seems that Borja Mayoral is perennially on a loan despite getting limited opportunities to perform with Real Madrid. He was quite impressive during his loan spell at Levante from 2018-20, even scoring against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu in 2019. It prompted Zidane to call him back to the first team as a backup striker only for him to embark on another two-year loan spell at Roma.

He has modelled his game on Karim Benzema. He can link up play and also score all types of goals. His first season with Roma was quite impressive having scored 10 goals and three assists featuring in a majority of Seria A games. Unfortunately for him, a change in leadership at the club with none other than Jose Mourinho coming in meant he spent most of this season on the bench.

However, he was quick to shift bases in the January transfer window. He has found a new lease of life at Getafe. He scored on his debut for the club which is on a revival spree after languishing at the bottom for the majority of the season. With both Jovic and Mariano contributing absolutely nothing, Mayoral presents a strong case for himself to be the backup striker to Karim Benzema next season.

3. Takefusa Kubo

The teenage prodigy from Japan has been with Real Madrid since 2019. He has been destined to do great things on the football field. If you witness him playing, you get why he is rated so highly. His dribbling, vision, and that inherent feistiness make him a complete package.

He has been on loan since being acquired by Real Madrid. His first season in LaLiga with Mallorca was pretty exciting. He was the lone bright spot in an otherwise forgetful campaign for his team who were relegated. 2020-21 was a disappointing season for Kubo as he failed to settle into Villareal and then Getafe. However, this season he returned to Mallorca and has been producing good performances with an expected xG of 1.8 despite suffering from injury.

With several first-team forwards whose futures are up in the air, a strong end to the season could open up opportunities for Kubo at Real Madrid. He has to improve his defensive play to prove he can be a complete team player at the highest level. There is huge potential, it is now the question of whether he can make it count.
