New Contracts
To build for the future, you need to start by focusing on the assets that you currently have. Real Madrid have some magnificent talent already in the squad and tying them up to new contracts should be a priority just as it was last summer with Casemiro, Valverde and others.
Vinicius Junior will be expected to sign a new contract this summer while other players could be following suit. Luka Modric has his one-year contract expiring this summer and after some brilliance once again on the pitch, he will be receiving a year-long extension. The club also is expected to renew the contract of Marco Asensio whose current deal expires in 2023 but whether or not that’s a wise decision will remain to be seen. The Spaniard has continued to be inconsistent this season and even though he is the third-highest scorer in the league on Real Madrid, has he done enough to deserve the extension?
Real Madrid know how important it is to tie down players to contracts, especially with unaffordable buy-out clauses given the current market. If they aim to bring in Mbappe and continue having bad blood with PSG, they will expect some retaliation but that won’t happen if the top players at the club are signed to massive buy-out clauses. Plus, even though this is admittedly purely my own assumption, would any of these younger players choose to leave Real Madrid and go to PSG? Either way, signing them to long-term contracts will also protect that as well as Real Madrid’s interest.

There is no denying that the upcoming summer transfer window is going to be exciting for many reasons and one that we should prepare for months in advance. By the end of the summer, the team shouldn’t be expected to change much but the depth and the talent in the team may be substantially higher. In any case, keep a close eye on some very big moves to come from the club with Florentino Perez leading the charge.
