2. OGC Nice CF Amine Gouiri

While the first three players were options to replace Luka Jovic immediately in the squad, the top two are players who could have an extended role in the squad in the future. The first player I’d like to discuss is a young overlooked talent. But, he has compelled everyone to take interest in him with his brilliant scoring form this season. I am talking about OGC Nice’s 22-year-old prized possession, Amine Gouiri.

Gouiri has 20 goal contributions in the season so far in 29 appearances for his club, that’s not a bad record at all for a 22-year old. The best thing about him is that he has impacted key games against the likes of Nantes, Bordeaux, Metz, and Monaco among others. At just 22 years of age, Gouiri wouldn’t be opposed to the idea of taking up a bench role in Real Madrid behind Karim Benzema.

There are a lot of things about the young Frenchman that impresses me. His hold-up play, creative passing, and proven finishing abilities top the charts for me. Real Madrid has been open to investing in younger talents and Gouiri fits the bill. Moreover, Real Madrid’s French nucleus has been a striking feature of the squad. He could be the next French player to join the team and rise to a bigger role alongside his compatriot Eduardo Camavinga.

Nonetheless, he is one player that Real Madrid should keep tracking. Real Madrid’s ambitions are definitely high. But, in a market so competitive, it is hard predicting what would happen in the end. So, keeping options open is the wisest thing to do. There are few more prospects in Ligue 1 to watch like Lille’s Jonathan David or Reims’ Hugo Ekitike. Real Madrid should keep their interest in such prospects in case their primary transfer targets are allured away by wealthy clubs and better paycheques.
