Real Madrid fans are already excited about the prospect of signing Kylian Mbappe for free this summer, as the transfer is basically a guarantee following an incredible Karim Benzema-inspired comeback over PSG in the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16.

But what’s even wilder is that Mbappe is not the only PSG superstar Real Madrid could sign for free this summer.

Las Blancas are reportedly attentive to the situation of Mari-Antoinette Katoto, per RMC Sport’s Anthony Rech. Katoto is PSG’s all-time leading goal-scorer with 137 goals. And she does love the club, given she is from Colombes – a neighborhood of Paris.

The issue is that she is uncertain after the events surrounding the attack on Kheira Hamraoui, the fallout of the situation, and the way PSG players were questioned. It is unclear if she wants to leave, but with her contract set to run out this summer, RMC Sport relay rumors that she may want a new challenge.

Both Real Madrid and Barcelona are watching Marie-Antoinette Katoto

Real Madrid is one of the clubs with interest, as is Barcelona. PSG’s biggest rivals in France, Lyon, are also unsurprisingly interested.

At 23, Katoto is one of the best strikers in the world and already one of the most accomplished players in PSG’s impressive history. Katoto is as clinical as they come, and she would be a game-changer for any club. Especially as a free agent.

Barcelona is currently the best team in the world, so you would have to think they have an edge in prestige. But because Real Madrid is such a historic club and building a promising foundation for their project, Katoto may be intrigued by the chance to be their big star up top. That could be a great selling point for her if she wants to challenge herself in that way.

Even if Barcelona sign her, that could leave the door open for another forward to exit whom Real Madrid could be interested in signing. They are also thinking of a future free-agent signing from Barça in Spanish international Jenni Hermoso. Although Katoto’s youth and upside would make her the bigger signing, there is no doubt that Hermoso, who once led Atletico Madrid to a league title, would be a world-class signing of the highest order for Las Blancas.

Madridistas want to see Real make more ambitious signings. They do have some superstars, but with Kosovare Asllani’s own future in some uncertainty and after Sofia Jakobsson’s departure this past summer, the remains an itch to bring in one more big name to add to rising superstars Athenea del Castillo, Esther Gonzalez, and Marta Cardona.
