Real Madrid showing interest in Chelsea star at important position of need
Real Madrid, even though they played really well in the second half of the PSG game, are not perfect in any sense. There are things that need to be done in terms of squad building, particularly signing a few players. There are multiple positions in need of reinforcement, and Real need to get cracking if they want to dominate European football for the next decade or so.
According to a report from journalist Sami Mokbel, there is growing uncertainty among Chelsea’s star players regarding the recent sanctions of the club owner Roman Abramovich. I’m sure you’ve read enough about that so I won’t divulge, but, the point is, according to the report, certain players might want out.
And apparently, Reece James is gathering interest from a number of clubs, most notably, Real Madrid.
Reece James, on paper, would be perfect for Real Madrid
Real Madrid obviously need a right-back urgently. Carvajal hasn’t been great and consistent in a while, and the fact that he is so injury prone makes it that much worse. The back-up to Carvajal is Lucas Vazquez, who, although had a great little cameo vs PSG midweek, is still not good enough in that position, at least not consistently.
Reece James is a fantastic two-way presence that is one of Europe’s best attacking full-backs. His crosses are pinpoint, and he tends to always make the right runs into the attacking third. The Englishman would be a great overlapping presence alongside Kylian Mbappe – who is reportedly going to sign his pre-contract with Real Madrid before the end of next week. Since Mbappe tends to drift inside, Reece James would be perfect for the overlap.
Although Reece James is not perfect defensively, he is still very good, and the few imperfections he has on the defensive side of things, he more than makes up for them in the offense. Real Madrid are not the only club interested in him, though, with Manchester City also looking at him as a replacement for the ageing Kyle Walker. Real and City tend to look at the same players, apparently.

Obviously, with Chelsea’s situation, they might be forced to sell some of the players that are a little bit uncertain about the way things are at the moment, and it remains to be seen what comes out of it at the end.
