Let us discuss Piero Hincapie’s more well-known teammate at right back, Jeremie Frimpong. The 21-year-old gained plaudits during last season’s Europa League while playing for Celtic, dazzling fans with his tireless work rate and dribbling. It was more of the same for Frimpong at Leverkusen last season, and he has stepped up to another level in 2021/22.

Leverkusen play exciting attacking football, with Patrik Schick reaping the rewards in front of goal. There will be more stress on the other players with the marvelous Wirtz injured, but Frimpong can be one of those players to step up and boost his stock even further.

Frimpong has six assists this season from the right back position, which is sensational. He is still developing defensively, but you could hardly call him a liability on that end. Frimpong may already be better defensively than Real Madrid loanee Alvaro Odriozola, who continues to surrender goals with clumsy mistakes in Serie A.

This season, Frimpong is averaging 1.2 key passes per game, 1.9 dribbles completed per game, and 1.8 fouls drawn per match in the Bundesliga. Though more fans around Europe are becoming aware of Frimpong and other big clubs will be in on him, Real Madrid should still be able to get him at an affordable price.

The 21-year-old is one for the future, no doubt, but he is also good enough to start games for Madrid in the present. If the club is seriously considering bringing back Odriozola from Fiorentina, then you’d have to think that they would also consider signing Frimpong.
