Real Madrid is zeroing in on Norwegian superstar Erling Haaland.
Los Blancos looked primed to sign both Kylian Mbappe and Borussia Dortmund’s superstar forward, Haaland, this summer, according to Jan Aage Fjørtoft:
"“Haaland saga is in it’s final stages, I think Man City & Real Madrid will be the main contenders but NOTHING is decided yet.”"
Real Madrid has been a front-runner to lockup both Mbappe and Haaland for several months, but the likes of City and FC Barcelona have thrown their names into the running. Despite dealing with injuries for much of the season and still under contract with Dortmund until the summer of 2024, Real Madrid is ready to swoop up Erling Haaland this summer.
The club feels that the opportunity to sign the player is too special to pass up. Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola has told the press there is a “strong chance” his client leaves his current club this summer or the next.
Haaland’s decision could depend on moves Real Madrid, Manchester City make
Real Madrid’s board is well aware that Manchester City is in the running for Haaland and the British club has not been shy in the past when going after a young star. This last summer window, the City board shelled out £100 million for Jack Grealish, but he has been struggling to solidify his spot in the starting XI.
Real Madrid could reach an agreement with BVB this summer Haaland release clause set at €75,000,000.
Considering that Karim Benzema and Vinicius Junior have been in red hot form – and Mbappe is in all likelihood joining Real Madrid this summer – Erling Haaland could be hesitant to sign.
Haaland has bagged 16 goals across 15 Bundesliga appearances this season, but he has missed 17 matches due to a couple of muscle problems, a hip flexor injury, and fitness concerns.
Whether that be from the player himself of the two clubs in hot pursuit, the decision could very well come down to a personal preference. What if Real Madrid is content with signing Mbappe on a free, keeping Benzema and Vini in the starting lineup, and target midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni?

What if Man City can attract Harry Kane away from Tottenham Hotspur after trying to sign him last season? Or Pep decides to stick around for a few more years with a key talisman up top?
What if Haaland decides to see out his contract much like Kylian Mbappe and then is no longer interested in Real Madrid in ’24? There are still a lot of ‘what-ifs’ and details to be worked out here, but we should reach the definitive conclusion of this transfer saga very soon.
