Real Madrid attacker Eden Hazard is at the top of the list of players who are expected to leave in the summer transfer window, as Los Blancos want to make some sales in order to secure vital transfers. Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland would command big salaries, and Madridistas would also love the club to sign the likes of Aurelien Tchouameni at other positions.

In order to do that, Hazard, with a salary of over 20 million euros, must go. The challenge will be finding suitors for him, given very few teams can afford his wages. Chelsea’s reported transfer ban has seemingly taken them out of the equation, but the Premier League is indeed the most logical destination for Hazard. He had an amazing career there, and those clubs have the money to afford him.

Newcastle have long been tossed around as a possible name, but there is a much more interesting club to add to the list of possible suitors.

According to Foot Mercato’s Santi Aouna and Dahbia Hattabi, Arsenal have “real interest” in Eden Hazard. They have even reportedly initiated contacts, though Foot Mercato makes it clear that they are mostly looking and gathering information at this point. They also report that Newcastle and Chelsea maintain an eye on Hazard’s situation.

Arsenal have already made one great signing from Real Madrid

Hazard apparently does not want to leave Madrid right now, but, surely, he sees the writing on the wall. Kylian Mbappe is almost certainly arriving, and Real may have to fit in Erling Haaland, too. Already, Hazard was usurped on the left wing by an even better player in emerging superstar Vinicius Jr., who continues to score vital goals and contribute all-around to this Real Madrid side.

While Hazard can still be an effective player, his days at Real Madrid are numbered. There is no role for him at the club.

Arsenal have a youth movement, so they do not make sense for Hazard on paper. They did make one great signing from Madrid, though, last summer in emerging star Martin Odegaard, who also has true superstar potential. That said, Hazard is worth looking at just to gather info, given his quality. There is also the joke that Arsenal sign former Chelsea players, such as Petr Cech, David Luiz, and Willian. Though perhaps the Gunners have learned from the Willian mistake.

On paper, Hazard to Arsenal makes little sense, but it is not an impossible transfer either. I would say that for now, consider this “due diligence”, rather than concrete interest to overreact to. As for Madrid’s perspective, they will be happy that any major clubs are looking to sign Hazard.
