The 2022 summer transfer window is going to be one of craziest transfer windows of all time in my opinion. I am sure that it’ll be on par with the 2021 window at the least. Everyday, there are new reports in the media regarding the players that generate the most amount of buzz in the world of football, such as Kylian Mbappé. The Spanish media is rife with Real Madrid transfer rumours at the moment. Alongside Kylian Mbappé stands the Norwegian goal machine Erling Haaland, whose transfer saga seems to be taking turns with every passing hour.

There are just a ton of reports and rumours out there. But according to the ever-reliable Spanish journalist Mario Cortegana, Real Madrid are going to try and do everything they can to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland. He is considered to be a priority alongside Kylian Mbappé, whose signing looks imminent now.

Why is it important for Real Madrid to prioritize Erling Haaland’s signing?

As far as the best young centre-forwards in the world are concerned, Haaland is right up there at the top of the tree. He has an insane appetite for goals, and barely seems to be flustered when he returns from injuries (something which many pointed out to be a possible issue with the player). At 21, he has already scored 141 goals for club and country combined.

Real Madrid want the upcoming summer transfer window to be as big as possible. And they are going all-hands-on-deck to ensure that they capture the Norwegian’s signature. In spite of many fearing – or rather believing – that he will have to make do with a secondary role at Real Madrid for a season or two due to the presence of Karim Benzema, I believe that providing Haaland with an offer he simply can’t refuse is in the best interests of Los Blancos.

Seldom do we see two bludgeoning world-beaters in the same team. The dream to watch Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo might remain a dream unfulfilled, but Real Madrid have the opportunity to create a god-like attack with the additions of both Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappé.

With Benzema set to turn 35 this year, and his contract expiring in 2023, Real Madrid would be wise to sign the natural heir for the #9 spot in Erling Haaland. It would also be beneficial for the 21-year old to learn from one of the best forwards of all time and use lessons given by the Frenchman as a formula to his success in Madrid.
