Put Vinicius Jr. in a position to lead this team

Vinicius Jr. has been the difference-maker for Real Madrid so many times this season. Just this past match in LaLiga, Vini Jr. won the game for the Merengues by scoring the first, decisive goal and then creating the second by drawing a penalty. And when it comes to Clasicos, Madridistas will never forget his goal at the Bernabeu in 2020 during the title race with Barça

Karim Benzema is not 100 percent and is in doubt for this next Clasico. That puts more of an onus on Vinicius to be decisive in another Clasico, because who else can Real rely on? Rodrygo is more of a creator and is also in doubt. Asensio can score goals from nothing, but he is just too inconsistent to rely on. Luka Jovic is also inconsistent. Isco and Eden Hazard could be options as false nines, but how much scoring threat would either provide?

No matter how you spin it, Vini is going to be important. Even if Benzema starts, despite most indications being that Real will rest him to avoid re-injury, Vinicius is still going to be the main man. He will be the healthiest, the most active, and the biggest threat.

Carlo Ancelotti has built this team around Vini in many ways, and the manager must find a way to put his young winger in a position to succeed. A win depends on how often Vinicius is able to get into the box and into shooting positions, because he is very likely going to be the main scoring threat. We already know he is the main creative threat, in terms of his carrying and one-on-ones.

Everyone must play their role in order for Real to get the win over a very tough Barcelona side, but Vinicius Jr. is clearly the man who will be the lead star for the Merengues. With 14 goals and 6 assists already in this wonderful breakout season, Vini stands a good chance of contributing to more goals this Sunday in what could be a high-scoring affair.
