Real Madrid are looking to add some reinforcements to their midfield in the summer, and Monaco star Aurelien Tchouameni has become a genuine transfer target. He’s the midfielder Real are most keen on, and although there are many clubs in the race for him, it seems like Real Madrid may be able to land him.

The rumors work in their favor as well. There are a number of reports from reputed journalists that talk about Tchouameni’s signing being an actual possibility for next season, and it remains to be seen if that happens, considering Real are already going for Kylian Mbappe, who was apparently signed in January, and Erling Haaland.

Not too long ago, El Primer Palo mentioned that Real Madrid are making headway in the Tchouameni deal, and that Jumi Calafat met with the player’s entourage to advance the signing.

According to recent reports from Ramon Alvarez, however, Real Madrid have agreed personal terms with Aurelien Tchouameni, and Monaco have named their asking price.

Monaco would want 50 million euros + 15 million in variables from Real Madrid for Tchouameni

Tchouameni is a great talent, and he’s looked at as the successor to Casemiro. He’s a great anchor, and is very talented on the defensive side of things. He’s also pretty good with the ball, and has a lot of potential.

65 million is still a lot for a player even of his calibre, though. Look at it this way: Real Madrid signed Eduardo Camavinga for only 25 million euros, and Vinicius Junior for 40 million. Yes, Tchouameni is a bit older and more polished than those two (well, at least more than Vinicius Junior) when they were first signed, but it still is a lot of money. If Real Madrid truly see no other way of going ahead with things, then I guess he’d be the best enforcer in the game for a while.

A change in style wouldn’t necessarily hurt the team though, there are plenty of teams that work well without an anchor like Casemiro, and a player like Xabi Alonso, or more recently, a Rodri or a Fabinho could also work.

That being said, Tchouameni is still an incredibly talented player, and if Real Madrid can convince him for not a lot of playing time in the present, I guess he’d be a great addition to the team.

Real would have to negotiate with Monaco regarding the price, though, since 65 million is a lot of money, no matter which way you look at it, especially considering there are other positions that need strengthening.
