Dreadful. Disgusting. Embarrassing. Each word you can think of, it’s not enough to describe the quality of performance that we have just seen from Real Madrid vs Barcelona. Ancelotti needs to go. It’s fair to say that Ancelotti, who’s been in the game for decades, has just been ferociously dunked on by Xavi – who is 5’7 and joined Barcelona just a few months ago – in every way imaginable.
Well, there’s my reaction. Here are some other fans saying the same thing but in different words. Mostly, different words.
People all over Twitter are absolutely enraged at what they were witnessing. This is far, far worse than the PSG game because this time, Real Madrid’s defenders aren’t saving the day. Forget that. The defense simply ceased to exist. The structure was completely out of the window. What the hell was I watching?
If this next tweet doesn’t sum up Real Madrid’s season, I don’t know what does. Flashes of brilliance in big moments are fine – actually, individual brilliance is a better phrase – but if those flashes remain flashes, for a team like Real Madrid, that’s disastrous.
There was no gameplan, Real Madrid didn’t have Karim Benzema, so they decided to mess up their tactical blueprint, giving Barcelona full control after the first 15 minutes. And then, somehow, Ancelotti made it even worse:
Real are actually very, very lucky they don’t have to face Barcelona again this season. If you think Kylian Mbappe is going to solve all of these problems on his own, well, you need a reality check. There are so many positions that need reinforcements, it’s not even funny. Real Madrid not only need new players, but they so desperately need a new, tactically adept manager, that could get this team to perform well consistently, both against bad teams and the good ones.

It almost feels like Real were trying to make the shambolic performance vs PSG in the first leg look good. I do not know how that’s even possible.
Ancelotti, it’s time to close up shop.
